According to a new report, AMC Networks is developing its very own ad-free online TV streaming service that will be aimed at particularly its millennial TV subscribers. It’s reportedly going to be different from the similar options that we’ve seen from HBO and CBS because AMC’s online streaming service would only be available to those who subscribe to a cable TV package.
Citing two sources familiar with the situation, Reuters reports that AMC’s online TV streaming service would only be available to those who subscribe to a cable TV package. It’s said that AMC is doing this as a means of supporting the conventional cable TV industry at a time when younger subscribers are rapidly cutting the cord.
AMC is also said to be discussing ideas about digital-only spinoff shows of its existing programs like The Walking Dead. Its TV streaming service may be priced between $4.99 to $6.99 per month. The sources do point out that final details are still being worked.
AMC has not yet commented on the matter so it’s unclear when it’s going to launch this service and what it’s going to be called. Hopefully, at least for fans of AMC’s shows, the network will confirm more details about this service in the near future.
