Nintendo Confirms Wii U Production Has Ended Globally

Yesterday it was reported that the production of the Wii U had ended, but given that the information was gleaned from Nintendo’s Japanese website which stated that this was in regards to the Japanese market, it was unclear as to what this meant for the rest of the markets that the Wii U is available in.

However according to Nintendo of America, it seems that they have confirmed that production of the Wii U has ended globally. This means that once stock has run out at your local retailer, there’s a good chance that they will no longer be restocking the console. So if you’ve been thinking of getting a Wii U for whatever reason, now is a good time to do it.

This really shouldn’t come as a surprise since come March 2017, Nintendo will be releasing their next-gen console in the form of the Switch. The Switch represents Nintendo’s latest gaming hardware efforts and is also quite a departure from what the Wii and Wii U offered in terms of features, which could be a good thing for the company.

So far it seems that based on pre-orders, the Switch is doing quite well, but whether or not it’ll live up to expectations remains to be seen. In the meantime is anyone going to miss the Wii U?
