Uber is best known for providing the platform that enables people like you and me to book a ride when we need it. It connects riders with drivers who can drive on their own time and earn money in the process. The company regularly tests new features and services in select markets, its latest test that’s live now in several cities allows users to hire personal chauffeurs.
Uber is calling this new service UberHire, it enables users to hire a car with driver for an entire day. It has currently made this service available in several cities in India, including but not limited to New Delhi and Mumbai.
Uber users in the country and choose to book an UberHire by selecting the first part of their trip after they’ve swiped across to the relevant option. According to reports, the minimum fare will be around $10 for two hours and users will then be charged a flat fee for every subsequent minute and kilometer up to a limit of 12 hours.
This feature is going to be great for those who just want a car for the entire day because they will be going to a lot of places and want to save themselves the aggravation of having to book a ride at every stop. They won’t have to wait if no Ubers are available at a particular destination, if they have an UberHire, they can just step into the car and be on their way.
It’s unclear if Uber is going to expand UberHire out of India at any point in the near future.
