If you are using the 2016 MacBook Pro with the Touch Bar, you’ll be pleased to learn that in a recent update Microsoft has rolled out support for the feature for Office. This means that you’ll be able to use Touch Bar with the various Office apps where you’ll be able to access different functions and shortcuts. This release is a little over a week after the preview users were given access to it.
With Microsoft Word, users will be able to access a “Word Focus” mode. This hides all onscreen ribbons and commands on the main display, thus letting users focus on their writing. Formatting tools will also be shifted to the Touch Bar where they’ll remain in reach, but not distracting the user.
Powerpoint users can look forward to a graphical map that shows the various slide layers, thumbnails, timer, and presentation controls. Excel and Outlook will also be getting their own shortcuts in the form of commonly used formulas/commands. These changes should already be live so do check them out if you’re interested.
