It was first rumored a couple of months ago that Samsung is working on a new Galaxy smartphone that’s going to be called the Galaxy Xcover 4. We haven’t heard much about this smartphone since then but it has apparently been spotted on the benchmarking website Geekbench where it has revealed some of its specifications. If the Geekbench listing is correct, this is going to be another Samsung handset that comes with Android 7.0 Nougat installed out of the box.
Samsung hasn’t released a new smartphone so far that comes with Nougat straight out of the box. The recently updated Galaxy A (2017) series could have been on Nougat but it comes with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow instead, only because Samsung probably wants the Galaxy S8 to be its first Nougat handset on the market.
If that’s true, then it’s highly likely that the Galaxy Xcover 4 won’t be released until the Galaxy S8 hits the market, which is expected to happen by mid-April. The Geekbench listing reveals that the Galaxy Xcover 4 is going to feature an Exynos 7570 processor with 2GB of RAM, Mali-T720 graphics processor, Cat.4 LTE, and possibly a 720p display.
This is going to be the successor to the Xcover 3 which Samsung launched almost two years ago. No further information about this handset is available right now but we’re likely going to hear more about it in the coming weeks. Samsung is yet to confirm when the Galaxy Xcover 4 will be made official.
