The good news for PS4 gamers is that if you’ve been wanting a similar feature as well, you’ll be pleased to learn that in an upcoming update, it will be adding support for external hard drives. The update comes in the form of version 4.50 but it hasn’t not been released to the public yet and currently only exists in beta form. There is no firm release date for this update but the fact that it is in beta is good news.
To be fair when it comes to expanding the PS4’s storage, Sony has made the process of replacing the internal drive as easy as possible, but the fact that it requires a bit of tinkering means that there could be some gamers who don’t feel too comfortable about doing it and would much rather a plug-and-play setup.
In any case we guess their wish has been granted so do keep an eye out for the update when it is released. In addition to the support for external hard drives, Sony has also added other features in the update such as custom wallpaper.
