Following the success of the first Pillars of Eternity, we weren’t that surprised to see that the folks at Obsidian have decided to return with a sequel in the form of Pillars of Eternity 2. The developers once again turned to crowdfunding to help them fund the game, and unsurprisingly the campaign managed to go well past its original goal.
The original funding goal of $1.1 million was surpassed in about a day and it reached $1.6 million. We estimated that at this rate, it wouldn’t have any problems hitting $2 million before its campaign ended, but as it turns out we were wrong. The campaign managed to go way past $2 million and is now sitting at over $3 million.
To thank their backers who helped them reach this milestone, they have announced two physical rewards for backers in the form of a Space Pig pin and a Space Pig Plushie, although the former is only available to those who backed them at Collector’s Edition ($129) level or higher, and the latter will only be available to those who backed the game at Name a Pet ($500) level.
However that’s not all as the developers have a stretch goal set at $3.25 million in which they’ll introduce Sidekicks to the game. At this time of writing the game is at $3.1 million and with 2 days and 14 hours to go, it will be a race to see if they’ll be able to meet that goal. In the meantime you can head on over to its Fig crowdfunding page if you’d like to lend a helping hand.
