Of course now that we’re in 2017 and the era of the smartphone, devices like the Nokia 3310 seem more fitting for a museum than anything. However a recent report by Evan Blass over at VentureBeat has suggested something else. If the rumors are right, it seems that HMD Global will be officially launching a Nokia 3310 homage handset at MWC 2017 which is taking place towards the end of the month.
For those unfamiliar, HMD Global is the company that has the license to manufacture phones with the Nokia brand. This is because Nokia themselves are out of the mobile phone manufacturing business, so while these phones will bear the Nokia branding, they will be made by a different company.
Not much is known about this homage expect that it will cost €59. We’re not sure if it will be an exact replica of the Nokia 3310 or if there will be some modern upgrades, but we guess we’ll have to wait and find out, so check back with us at MWC 2017 for the details.
