It was reported recently that HMD Global, the Finnish company that’s making Nokia-branded smartphones, will take us on a walk down memory lane at the Mobile World Congress 2017 by launching the new Nokia 3310. That was an iconic cellphone in its own right. Nokia sold 126 million units of the original 3310 ever since the phone was released in September 2000. The successor holds on to the original moniker but does feature an updated design and a bigger display.
The new Nokia 3310 is not a smartphone so there are no complex specs that you need to wrap your head around. It remains a featurephone but is a bit modern now.
It features a 2.4 inch QVGA display, a microSD card slot for external memory expansion, and it’s powered by Nokia’s Series 30+ software. That’s all there is to this device. If you owned a Nokia 3310 back in the day you’ll notice that the design is a bit different as well.
It’s smaller, lighter, and thinner than its predecessor but that was to be expected. The process of making cellphones has evolved significantly since the year 2000. Nokia is offering the new Nokia 3310 in a variety of colors including matte grey, red, yellow, and dark blue.
What would the Nokia 3310 be without the iconic Snake game and HMD Global holds similar sentiments which is why it has included a modern version of the Snake game in this device as well. The Opera Mini web browser is included as well for basic web browsing.
The company says that the new Nokia 3310 can last for 31 days on standby and provide a talk time of 22 hours. HMD Global is going to release the new Nokia 3310 in the second quarter of this year for $52.
