This means that for those who bought into the LG Friends ecosystem, you guys have been left hanging. So what about Motorola and the Moto Mods? The good news is that Motorola’s parent company Lenovo has a long-term goal for them. Speaking to Pakistani publication The Express Tribune, Lenovo General Manager Middle East for Smartphones Sharay Shams revealed the company’s plans for the Moto Mods.
According to Shams, “The company will introduce 12 Mods this year, which will remain compatible with the phones to be introduced by the company over the next three years.” This means that if you bought a Moto Z handset last year and plan to upgrade this year, not to worry as the Moto Mods you currently own will work with this year’s handset so it won’t be wasted.
Of course what happens after those 3 years remains to be seen as we’re not sure if Motorola plans on sticking with the Moto Mods, but for the foreseeable future know that your purchases are relatively future-proof.
