For those unfamiliar with the phases/stages of development, going gold basically means that development on the game has been completed, and that it is ready to be released to the masses. It also means that the current iteration of the game will be more or less the same version that we can expect upon its final release, barring any last minute game-breaking bugs that need to be addressed before its release.

Mass Effect: Andromeda will be the latest installment in the Mass Effect franchise. It will also represent a new story and game in the Mass Effect universe where it will not be picking up from the original trilogy. Instead it is expected to introduce its own story and a new set of characters. It is also taking place much further down the line from the events in the original trilogy.
The game will be available on the PS4, Xbox One, and the PC, with EA/Origin Access members getting a 5 day head start on the game. Unfortunately it seems that there are no plans to bring the game onto the Switch.
