Lyft has announced its most aggressive expansion yet as the #DeleteUber campaign has got its main rival very, very busy these days. The ride-sharing company today announced that it’s expanding to 54 cities across four new states in the United States. Many of these new markets are concentrated in the Midwest while some new markets are also in Southern states and the East coast.
The company itself mentions in its blog post that this is its largest expansion yet and it brings up the total number of cities in the United States that Lyft services up to 300.
Lyft did say last month that it was going to expand its service to 100 more markets this year. Since the beginning of 2017 and with the addition of these new markets, it has already opened up its service in 94 new cities which means that it now has ten months to go but just six cities remaining to meet the target it set for itself earlier this year.
“We look forward to continuing this rapid momentum, bringing Lyft’s safe, affordable rides to even more cities this year,” said Jaime Raczka, head of Early Stage Markets and Expansion at Lyft.
The Uber rival is so far only limited to cities in the United States but it goes without saying that it will eventually launch internationally as well. You can find out the entire list of the cities that Lyft has expanded into on its official blog.
