However for the upcoming LG G6, the company is rumored to be doing things differently. A report from ETNews (via Pocketnow) has revealed that LG could be offering different features for different markets. For example the rest of the world is expected to get an LG G6 that features wireless charging coils to support wireless charging, while the LG G6 for the Korean market will be getting a MST coil that is meant to support mobile payments like LG Pay.
We have heard rumors of LG’s plans for mobile payments where the company had initially gone with a credit card-like device, but late last year we heard that they were switching to MST which is the same technology used by Samsung for Samsung Pay. We’re not sure why LG is keeping the feature exclusive to the Korean market, or why couldn’t they have included the same hardware across the board so that it could be enabled later.
In any case take it with a grain of salt but LG is expected to announce the handset at MWC 2017 so check back with us towards the end of the month for the details.
