Announced ahead of MWC 2017, Huawei has taken the wraps off the Honor VR Camera. As the name suggests, this is a camera designed for capturing VR content. The best part is that it is small enough to function as a clip-on attachment for smartphones and was developed in partnership with Insta360.
The camera will be capable of capturing photos and videos in 360-degrees with photo stills of up to 3K in resolution, meaning that they will be pretty high quality. The exact specifications of the Honor VR Camera are still a bit of a mystery at the moment, but presumably we should have more details at MWC 2017.
Huawei isn’t the first smartphone OEM to release a 360-degree camera. We’ve seen similar efforts from the likes of Samsung as well as LG, but maybe the Honor VR Camera might have more appeal due to its smaller stature and portability. Huawei said that there are plans to release it internationally, but is this something you would be interested in?
