We saw the trend of making smart connected objects and baking in virtual private assistants really explode at the Consumer Electronics Show 2017 last month. Assistants like Amazon’s Alexa and Microsoft’s Cortana are gradually making their way into a variety of products including but not limited to smart speakers and even cars. Audio giant Harman Kardon is working on a new speaker that has Cortana baked in. It’s possible that we might get to see the launch of this product in the near future.
Harman did hint at such a product back in December last year when it teased a new voice-activated speaker. The voice command functionality of this smart speaker is going to be handled by Microsoft’s Cortana.
Many believed that Harman would have introduced this device at the Consumer Electronics Show last month but it didn’t so it remains to be seen when the company is going to decide to go ahead with this. The connected speaker has already received its Wi-Fi certification which is normally an indication that the release is near.
The Mobile World Congress 2017 is the next big consumer electronics event that’s due to take place later this month. It remains to be seen if Harman Kardon is going to launch it around that time to get some space in the MWC news cycle. The company itself has confirmed no details about the launch of availability of this as yet unnamed speaker.
