Microsoft confirmed a few months back that the next major Windows 10 update is going to be released in the first quarter of 2017. It has detailed some of the new features and improvements that are included in the Windows 10 Creators Update. The company also confirmed recently that there’s going to be a second major Windows 10 update that will be released later this year. Reports reveal that Microsoft has now compiled the first Windows 10 Redstone 3 builds.
Redstone 3 is going to be the second major update when you consider that last year’s Anniversary Update was Redstone 1 and the upcoming Creators Update is Redstone 2. You can see where I’m going with this. Microsoft hasn’t said when it’s going to be released but there’s a good chance that it might be out in November this year.
Windows build-tracking website BuildFeed reports that Microsoft has compiled Windows 10 Build 15141 from the rs_prerelease branch internally which means that that is one of the first Redstone 3 builds that it has compiled.
Over the coming months, Microsoft will keep making improvements and tweaks to the Creators Update before its proper release in April on the rs2_release branch while at the same time it’s also going to continue working on Redstone 3 in the rs_prerelease branch.
Microsoft hasn’t confirmed that it’s going to bring to Windows 10 with Redstone 3. Previous reports suggest that we’re in for major visual upgrades with the next release. The company is likely to talk more about this update at its BUILD 2017 conference in May this year.
