Now according to a report from Reuters, it seems that they have learnt that Facebook’s video plans could be expanding into the world of sports. The report claims that Facebook is currently in talks with Major League Baseball (MLB) to potentially live stream an MLB game at least once a week via its platform.
Consultants seem to be pretty optimistic about this deal as apparently it will help to attract a younger audience, something that Facebook seems to be lacking these days as teens and youth in general are turning to other social media platforms, such as Snapchat. It is unclear as to which MLB games Facebook could potentially live stream, but unsurprisingly both Facebook and MLB have declined to comment on the report.
We’re not sure if and when this live stream option will surface, but given that they are currently in talks it’s hard to say if Facebook’s attempts to court MLB will be successful in the first place, so take it with a grain of salt and check back with us later for more updates if there are any to be had.
