Apple Spaceship Campus Opens As ‘Apple Park’ In April

Apple has been working on its new headquarters for a couple of years now. The initial renderings that the company released a couple of years ago earned the site its “spaceship” moniker even though the company never said that’s what it was going to officially call its new offices. The company today confirmed when its new campus is going to open and what it will be officially called. Apple has also confirmed that it has named something after the deceased co-founder Steve Jobs in the new campus as a tribute.

The company confirmed today that its new campus is going to open in April and that it’s going to be called Apple Park. Its employees will certainly be looking forward to moving into this multi-billion dollar structure. Apple says that some 12,000 employees will move into the new offices over six months.

Apple has also confirmed that the 1,000-seat auditorium in the Apple Park has been named the Steve Jobs Theater in memory of the late co-founder and CEO. The company has reiterated multiple times that this is going to be a very energy efficient building, possibly one of the greenest buildings on the planet.

It’s said that the entire site will be powered using renewable energy as its solar roof will generate 17 megawatts of electricity. Not all areas will be open to the public, though, but the Apple Park will have a store and a cafe that will be open to all.
