However according to a report from Motherboard, it seems that Apple isn’t too thrilled with the bill and plans to fight it. The company has not officially announced their plans yet, but Motherboard quotes a source within the legislature who has told them that Apple plans on fighting against the bill.
According to their source, an Apple rep, staffer, or lobbyist is expected to testify against the bill at a hearing which is set for the 9th of March in Lincoln, Nebraska which is one of the five states that was planning on introducing the bill. The report from Motherboard also revealed that AT&T is expected to testify against the bill as well.
The argument, apparently, is that with this bill it could cause unsafe repair works, which in turn could lead to damaging the lithium batteries of the phones and cause a fire or explosion. Neither Apple nor AT&T has responded to a request for comment from Motherboard.
