However a new report out of Korea from The Investor (via Cult of Mac) is painting a very different picture. If the reports are true, it seems that Apple has ordered an additional 60 million OLEDs from Samsung. This is on top of a previously rumored agreement in which Samsung would supply Apple with 100 million OLED panels for the iPhone 8.
Now 160 million is obviously not a small figure to scoff at, and like we said it seems to contradict the earlier claims that the OLED screen would be exclusive to the iPhone 8 Plus. Given that Apple typically sells about 200 million iPhones a year, 160 million means that it accounts for 80% of iPhone sales, meaning that it seems unlikely that all 160 million orders are just for one particular model.
In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but this could possibly be good news for would-be customers who do not plan to purchase the larger Plus model, but would still like an OLED screen anyway.
