In an announcement on the Hearthstone website, Blizzard revealed that they will be changing the way they release new content for Hearthstone, and that 2017 will be seeing the release of three 130 card expansions. The first is expected at the start of the year, the second will take place in the middle of the year, and the last will take place at the end of the year.
According to Blizzard, they like the concept of adventures, but they want to merge that concept with a huge pool of cards that are typically expected from expansions, so what Blizzard is doing is merging both concepts into one. “Cards will be acquired via packs like other expansions in the past; additionally, each release will include optional single-player missions that will help develop the expansions’ thematic narratives and offer fun challenges.”
The second expansion of 2017 is when players will be able to see this new concept put into practice, which means that don’t expect it with the first expansion. In addition to this, Blizzard has also announced a bunch of other major changes they’ll be making to the game, so check out the Hearthstone blog if you’re interested in learning more.
