This is also something that Xbox boss Phil Spencer hopes to see in the future. In a response to a question from a gamer regarding more cross-play support, Spencer replied by saying, “I hope so, that’s our goal. HW2 doesn’t for some longer standing engine reasons but going forward cross-play is a good feature.”

It was recently announced that Gears of War 4 would be a title that has cross-play support, although it seems that the feature is limited to one mode of the game, but we guess it’s a good start. While we’re sure that console makers like Microsoft and Sony would love for gamers to purchase either of their consoles, having cross-play support does help to lend more fun to the proceedings.
Of course there are potential balance issues and how one game played on one platform might not necessarily be the same as playing on another, but what do you guys think? Should developers keep making games that are limited to the console they’re launched on, or would you like to see more cross-play support in the future?
