During the company’s latest financials, Nintendo has confirmed that the Wii U’s production has officially ended in Japan. This does not mean that Nintendo will completely abandon it as they move towards the Switch, but it does mean that should retailers run out of stock of the Wii U, don’t expect them to be restocking them anytime soon.
It is unclear if this also means that other markets will also be affected as the website states that this is with regards to the Japanese domestic market, but we can only imagine that it probably won’t be long until production for the rest of the world eventually comes to an end as well. It was also recently confirmed that the upcoming The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will be Nintendo’s last game for the Wii U.
