WhatsApp is one of the most popular instant messenger apps on smartphones at the moment. Recent stats revealed that during New Year’s Eve, a whopping 63 billion WhatsApp messages were sent, which safe to say is an indication of how many users are using the service concurrently.
However could the company be looking to branch out into the enterprise sector? According to a recent tweet by @WABetaInfo, it seems that the latest beta of WhatsApp has made references to a new “Enterprise” platform. The tweet reads, “In latest Android and WP beta updates there are references about a new WhatsApp platform: its name is ‘Enterprise’”.
Of course this could mean just about anything, but looking to cater to the enterprise market isn’t really that much of a stretch. After all we’re pretty sure that WhatsApp would love to become the defacto instant messenger for the workplace. The app already offers end-to-end encryption so it already has the security side settled.
We’re not sure how much more different WhatsApp for the enterprise could be, or if it is even a thing. Either way we’ll just have to wait and see so do check back with us at a later date where hopefully there will be more details to share.
