At the moment it is unclear as to how much Nintendo plans on pricing the Switch console. A recent report suggested that it would be priced at 25,000 yen in Japan, which some have taken to mean that it will cost around $250 when it arrives in the US. However you might be disappointed to learn that it might not be true.
According to a recent sighting in Target’s inventory by @Wario64 (via Nintendo Life), it seems that the retailer has priced the console at $299.99. This is around a $50 increase from the previous pricing which we guess isn’t too bad, although we’re sure that at $250 it would have been a lot more attractive to gamers.
If the rumors are true about it being priced at $299.99, it would actually make it a tad more expensive than some current-gen consoles out there, like the Sony PS4 which is selling for $259 on Amazon. Heck in fact the Xbox One S on Amazon is currently discounted and is selling for $279 and it also comes with a free game.
In any case since nothing has been made official yet, maybe we shouldn’t get too worked up for now. Nintendo is expected to hold a special Switch presentation tomorrow so hopefully we’ll get the details such as pricing then.
