T-Mobile Will Reimburse Sales Tax On New Smartphones

T-Mobile today announced that starting February 1st, all new and existing T-Mobile customers can purchase a new smartphone and be reimbursed for at least what they paid in sales tax “when it’s all said and done.” This offer might sound simple on the surface but it’s always best to read the fine print carefully so don’t forget to do that if you make up your mind to take Magenta up on this offer.

New and existing customers can go to the carrier’s website or any of its stores and get their new smartphone on an equipment installment plan. It’s offering money back on every new smartphone with every T-Mobile One or Simple Choice Unlimited 4G LTE line up to 12.

Once that’s done, customers have to submit their information online and wait to get a prepaid MasterCard with 11.2 percent of their smartphone’s price within 60 days. This could be over $100 per device and certainly more than the sales tax on most phones. This deal is being offered on all smartphones that T-Mobile has in its lineup.

The carrier does point out in the press release that this is a limited time offer but doesn’t say when it’s going to end. If this is something that interests you, read the full release to get a sense of the limitations and conditions before you decide to go ahead with this.
