Some T-Mobile Nexus 6P Handsets Experiencing Network Drop After Android 7.1.1

Nexus-6P-Black-01According to a post on Google’s forum, it seems that some Nexus 6P users are reporting that they are experiencing network drop issues on T-Mobile’s network after they had updated to Android 7.1.1 Nougat. The number of posts aren’t that many so it is possible that maybe it isn’t a very widespread problem, but it is clear that there are some users who are experiencing it.

The original post reads, “Random intermittent network drop in full signal strength area. After dropping to no signal, Nexus 6P will reconnect to T-Mobile network in a couple of seconds. Occasionally it will reconnect to the network but be unable to connect for data. This issue has only occurred since updating to Android 7.1.1, and persists even after a factory reset.”

Users who are experiencing the problem claim that they are in areas that have full signal strength so it’s not as if reception was an issue to begin with. According to one post, flashing a different radio seems to have resolved the problem, so it is pretty obvious that this is a software issue and not a hardware one.

So far neither Google nor Huawei nor T-Mobile have responded to these complaints, so we’re not sure what can be done other than flashing an older radio, which seems to be a temporary solution for now.
