To say that Star Wars: A New Hope was a hit would be a massive understatement. It’s a movie that has turned millions of people across the globe into diehard Star Wars fans and continues to do so. There’s speculation that a Star Wars: A New Hope 4K release might take place this summer. Nothing has been confirmed as yet but I’m sure many fans would want to see a cut of this epic movie in Ultra HD.
Reports suggest that Disney and Lucasfilm might show a 4K version of Star Wars: A New Hope in select cinemas this summer. Rogue One director Gareth Edwards actually mentioned in a recent interview that he has seen a 4K cut of the movie.
“On day one, we were in Lucasfilm in San Francisco with Industrial Light and Magic and John Knoll, our supervisor, he said that they’ve got a brand new 4K restoration print of A New Hope – it had literally just been finished,” Edwards mentioned in a recent interview with Little White Lies. He was talking about how he prepared for the task at hand with Rogue One.
Fans would certainly find it very exciting to see the original movie in glorious 4K resolution but keep in mind that it’s not like Edwards has said that this 4K cut will be shown to the public. Disney and Lucasfilm haven’t confirmed anything as well so far. It’s not like Star Wars fans have nothing to look forward to this year. Episode VIII is due to hit the big screen in December this year.
