The Snapdragon 835 is Qualcomm’s next-generation mobile processor that’s going to power a lot of flagship devices this year. The company revealed more details about its new processor just a few days ago. It appears that Xiaomi has a flagship handset in the pipeline that’s going to be powered by the Snapdragon 835. The latest reports out of China suggest that Xiaomi is actually going to release two variants of the Mi 6.
Word on the street in China is that Xiaomi is going to release two variants of the Mi 6. It’s claimed that one of the variants is going to have a flat display while the other is going to feature a dual-edge curved display. This is a strategy that Samsung popularized with the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge and later stuck with it for the Galaxy S7 as well.
It’s also claimed that the flat display version of the Mi 6 is going to feature 4GB of RAM while the curved display version will have 6GB of RAM. Xiaomi has apparently decided against going with a dual rear camera system for both variants.
Xiaomi is yet to confirm when it’s going to launch its next flagship smartphone. If recent reports are to be believed, the Mi 6 might be out in February.
