samsung-pay-india-launch
Samsung has reiterated time and again that it’s working hard to expand its mobile payments service to additional markets across the globe. We saw the company expand Samsung Pay to more than half a dozen new markets in 2016 and it’s going to continue doing this in 2017 as well. The company has already started teasing the Samsung Pay India launch.

The company has started rolling out Android 7.0 Nougat for the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge in India today. Once the handset is updated to the new firmware and it restarts, users will see a popup message which says “The future of payments is coming soon!”

Now this isn’t a subtle hint at all. Samsung Pay is the company’s mobile payments service and it’s being expanded rapidly to ensure that tough competition is given to rivals like Apple Pay and Android Pay. India is the next logical expansion destination for Samsung Pay given that the company already enjoys a leading smartphone market share in the country.

Samsung is only teasing the launch for customers in India at this point in time. It hasn’t confirmed as yet when the service is going to go live in the country and which banks will initially have support for Samsung Pay.

All this, and more should be confirmed in the months to come.
