The good news is that Samsung has confirmed that the updates should arrive in the first half of 2017. In a small footnote on its website, Samsung wrote, “Android 7.0 Nougat will be expanded to additional countries on the following devices within the first half of this year: Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge and S6 edge Plus, Galaxy Note5, Galaxy Tab A with S Pen, Galaxy Tab S2 (LTE unlock), Galaxy A3, and Galaxy A8.”
It seems that there is no mention of even older devices like the Galaxy S5 or the Galaxy Note 4, but we guess that shouldn’t really come as a surprise since many OEMs, not just Samsung, don’t go that far back, but if you have the Galaxy S6 Edge and Edge Plus at the very least, you guys are safe.
No word on when exactly the update will roll out, but like Samsung said it should be in the first half of 2017, that is if you haven’t already decided that you want to upgrade to the Samsung Galaxy S8 instead.
