The success of Capcom’s Resident Evil franchise is hardly a secret, especially when you consider how many games the franchise spans, plus let’s not forget the fact that there are also just as many movies about the series that has been released over the years. This is why it doesn’t come as a surprise to learn that Resident Evil 7 is continuing that wave of success.
In a press release by the company, Capcom has announced that the number of units of the game that have been shipped since its release is at the 2.5 million mark. Capcom did not go into specifics so it is unclear if this 2.5 million units shipped are those shipped to retailers or to gamers who bought the game.
Either way for Capcom to have shipped that many units certainly does suggest that there is a demand for the game, but whether or not all those shipments have been sold out is a different story. That being said, reviews of the game have been extremely positive as many seem to appreciate how Capcom has made the franchise feel scary once again.
Capcom is also attributing the success of the game to the demo which was released across all platforms. The company claims the demo was downloaded more than 7.15 million times which they are saying is a record for the series.
