However that could soon be a thing of the past, thanks to PowerVision who have recently announced the PowerRay. This is an underwater drone that thanks to its sensors, will be able to detect fish.
According to the company, “PowerRay features an optional add-on component, PowerRay Fishfinder, which leverages sonar system to detect fish with precision and sends images of fish and underwater landscape, temperature data, as well as alerts to users through internal Wi-Fi to enable fishermen to make spontaneous decisions.”
"POWERRAY IS ONE OF THE COOLEST UNDERWATER DRONE TO DATE"In addition to being able to detect fish, it also comes with its own built-in WiFi that beams videos and images captured by its 4K camera back to an accompanying smartphone app. There is also a luring light that is meant to attract fish to it, as well as an optional remote-controlled bait drop that places tasty treats at the desired location.
While flying drones are a dime a dozen these days, underwater drones are a relatively new thing and PowerRay is one of the coolest underwater drone to date. PowerVision expects that their PowerRay drone will be available for pre-order on the 27th of February. No word on pricing, but given its features we don’t expect that it will come cheap.
