Nougat Update For Galaxy S7 Defaults Display Resolution To 1080p

If there is one thing that would be hard to fault Samsung on regarding the Galaxy S7, it would be its gorgeous display. Samsung’s choice of AMOLED displays have always been highly-praised, and with the Galaxy S7 it is no different especially when combined with a QHD resolution that makes everything look razor sharp.

Now as you might have heard, the Android 7.0 Nougat update is making its rounds to the Galaxy S7 and it has actually been discovered that for some reason, after updating the phone the display resolution is defaulted to 1080p. So if you’re wondering if your eyes are playing tricks on you or if there’s something weird with your phone, it’s the latter.

The good news is that this isn’t so much a bug as it is a feature. You see what happened is that with the update, users now have the option of switching between three resolutions: WQHD, FHD, and HD, except that it has been defaulted to FHD after the update. You can change it back to WQHD easily by going to the Settings menu, then Display.

Alternatively the argument can be made for keeping the phone in Full HD, which is battery life since less energy is required to powered it. You could drop it lower to HD but then we guess it might not be so ideal, but either way don’t panic if your screen suddenly doesn’t look quite as sharp as you remembered.
