According to the report, it seems that come Monday we can expect Samsung to pinpoint the problem of the Note 7 to its batteries. As it was initially speculated, it seems that the first batch produced by Samsung SDI were irregularly sized which caused overheating, and in some cases explosions.
As you might recall, Samsung then decided to change suppliers to Amperex but it seems that due to rush to meet the sudden demand for batteries, it led to manufacturing problems that ultimately caused the new batch of batteries to present its own set of problems as well. However it is unclear what these manufacturing issues were, but maybe Samsung will share those details on Monday.
With these two recent reports, it certainly does seem to nullify a previous report which said that the “aggressive design” is to blame, where Samsung’s desire to create a phone so thin led to the battery being pinched and damaged, and ultimately exploding. Either way check back with us on Monday for the details.
