The company was expected to announce the results back in December, 2016, but clearly that has not happened. However according to South Korean daily JoongAng Ilbo (via Android Central), it seems that we could be getting an official answer from Samsung later this month, and mid-January has been suggested as a possible time frame.
Apparently Samsung has concluded their Note 7 investigation (it was previously suggested that they concluded it last month) and are now ready to share their results. It will be interesting to see what the official explanation will be especially since any attempt to try and sugarcoat what happened probably won’t go down well with customers.
In the meantime Samsung has been disabling the Note 7 handsets around the world and they are planning on using the upcoming Galaxy S8 to try and win back some customers, especially with that sweet 50% discount for affected Note 7 customers. Either way we’ll keep an eye out for the details.
