Of course there is no guarantee as Samsung has yet to officially announce or confirm anything, but safe to say that many are curious as to what might have went wrong. There has been quite a bit of speculation as to what went wrong, with some initially suspecting that the batteries were to blame.
In a way we guess they were since the batteries were the ones that exploded. However subsequent reports indicated that maybe Samsung was a bit too aggressive in the design of the Note 7 which led to the chassis pinching the batteries, damaging it in the process and leading to it exploding.
Either way Samsung has been actively recalling the handsets from around the world and have been issuing updates to the handset and disabled its charging, thus reducing it to a expensive paper weight, with the idea that it would encourage customers to hand it in. Samsung claims that their recall efforts have been going well as they have managed to recall about 96% of Note 7 handsets.
