This means that the number of things gamers can do with the console at launch is fairly limited, but to be fair it is a new console and it will take some time to populate its ecosystem. Unfortunately it seems that if you were hoping for other means of entertainment on the Switch ahead of the launch of other titles, you might be disappointed.
Speaking to Kotaku in a Q&A session, it was revealed that the Switch will not come with any video apps. According to the company, “All of our efforts have gone toward making the Nintendo Switch system an amazing dedicated video game platform, so it will not support any video-streaming services at launch. However, support for video-streaming services is being considered for a future update.”
We guess to be fair Nintendo did not completely close the door on the idea, but it seems that for and for the discernible future, don’t expect to stream video content from your favorite providers on the Switch.
