According to a recent article on Nikkei’s website, it seems that they have learnt that the Nintendo Switch will be priced at 25,000 yen, which after conversion brings it to roughly $215, although when it does arrive stateside maybe we could be looking at a $250 price tag instead which is still actually pretty decent.
This makes the Switch considerably cheaper than its competitors which could be an advantage as it might encourage gamers to give the console a shot. Following the flop that was the Wii U, we guess it is understandable if gamers are apprehensive about adopting Nintendo’s next console, but a lower price point could make up for it.
This seems to be in line with a leak from last year in which Toys R Us Canada revealed the price of the console at CAD$330, which when converted back into USD is roughly $250. In any case take it with a grain of salt, but Nintendo is expected to share more details about the Switch this coming Thursday, so check back with us then for more updates.
