[CES 2017] New Balance is a company that you guys might associate with shoes, and rightfully so. The company has done a pretty stellar job with its shoes for athletes as well as sneakers for the casual market. However at CES 2017, the company has decided to venture into the wearables scene with the RunIQ Android Wear smartwatch.
Smartwatches are pretty commonplace these days, but given New Balance’s athletic leanings, the RunIQ is clearly a smartwatch aimed at runners. In fact New Balance is boasting that the device was designed by runners for runners, thanks to the various features and hardware inside of the device that caters to such athletes.
The RunIQ was engineered with Intel Inside and will feature built-in GPS, a heart rate monitor, and will come with functions such as a lap button, intervals, and will also boast a long battery life so that you won’t have to constantly recharge it. We can’t attest to the RunIQ’s battery life since we haven’t tried it ourselves, so we’ll have to take their word for it.
As for pricing, the New Balance RunIQ will come with a $300 price tag. It is currently available for pre-order and will be available for purchase starting on the 1st of February. It’s definitely not the cheapest wearable or fitness tracker around, but if you like what you see, you can head on over to New Balance’s website for the details.
