It was first reported a couple of weeks ago that Microsoft is developing a new Game Mode for Windows 10 which is going to further improve gaming performance on Windows 10-powered machines. Microsoft itself confirmed this a couple of weeks ago. The next major update for this platform is indeed going to include a Game Mode. The company has now posted a new video online which explains precisely what this Game Mode is going to do.
The video that Microsoft has released today explains that when a system enters Game Mode, it’s going to “prioritize CPU and GPU resources to your game.” Simply put, it’s going to squeeze every ounce of processing power the system has and use it to further improve gameplay. The aim with Game Mode is to improve the frame rate of each game.
Users will have to turn on Game Mode for every game individually by accessing the new toolbar called Game Bar which can be pulled up at any time on PC by pressing “Windows + G.” They then have to check a box in the toolbar so that the currently open game can be optimized with Game Mode.
Microsoft does mention that some games may enable it automatically while others will require manual input from the player. Early Windows builds for Xbox One and PC now enable beta testers to try the Game Mode. The feature will be released to the public as part of the Windows 10 Creators Update that’s due in a couple of months.
