For those unfamiliar, Night Shift first made its debut in iOS 9.3 where it basically turned the display of iOS devices into a warmer color. The idea is that this will reduce the amount of blue light emitted which has been found to be the cause of sleep disruption, and now it looks like the feature has arrived for Mac computers as well which is more or less the same thing.
This means that if you do work on your computer late into the night, then Night Shift could be handy in helping you get some rest afterwards. Granted it won’t make up for the lack of sleep, but at the very least for the amount of sleep that you do get, it won’t be as disruptive, or at least that’s the theory anyway.
In iOS users were able to set their preferences for Night Shift where they could specify what time they want the feature to kick in and when they want it to be turned off. Since we don’t have access to the beta we can only assume that this will be the same for macOS as well.
