Now according to a report from Roger Cheng at CNET, he has more or less “confirmed” the previous reports by reiterating that the LG G6 will be waterproof, and that one of the “sacrifices” LG had to make was by taking away the removable battery feature. This is a departure from LG’s previous G offerings like the LG G4 and the LG G5, both of which featured removable batteries.
However we guess if LG wanted to waterproof the phone, they needed to ensure that every port and crevice was sealed where possible. The lack of a removable battery also more or less cements the fact that the LG G6 will not be a modular phone (unless they adopt a similar system to the Moto Mods, but that’s unlikely).
As to whether this is a good or bad thing, we guess it depends on users and how they use their phones and what their needs are, but we should find out the official details come MWC 2017 where LG is expected to announce the handset.
