However following the iPhone 6, sales of Apple’s iPhones have been declining as it would seem that the modest upgrades to the device wasn’t that exciting, but that is expected to change with the iPhone 8. According to analysts at Nomura, they are predicting that we can look forward to another “supercycle” in which the iPhone 8 will be blowing the sales of the iPhone 6 out of the water.
Many analysts have predicted the same, but Nomura believes that the numbers are underappreciated. “Consensus calls for 80 million iPhones in F1Q18 (Dec ’17) … only modestly above the iPhone 6 supercycle (75 million). However, we estimate the iPhone 8 will launch into an iOS subscriber base 45-50% larger than the iPhone 6 did and model 86 million iPhones in F1Q18 (from 83 million),” according to analysts Jeffrey Kvaal and Gregory McNiff.
The iPhone 8 which is expected to launch this year is expected to be a major upgrade in terms of design and features. The rumors are saying that it will feature an edgeless display, no more home button, a glass body, and “true” wireless charging.
