Huawei, one of the fastest growing smartphone manufacturers in the world, is due to launch its new flagship smartphones in a couple of months. Given that the P series handsets have almost always been launched in April every year, Huawei Consumer Business Group CEO Yu Chengdon recently mentioned that the Huawei P10 and P10 Plus will be released in either March or April 2017.
The Huawei P9 and P9 Plus have performed well in the market. The company announced late last month that the P9 flagship series had crossed 10 million shipments across the globe. It pointed out that this was a major milestone from both a product and a brand perspective.
The P9 series was the first from Huawei to include a Leica-branded dual-lens rear camera. They are actually the first flagship smartphones that Huawei has developed in collaboration with Lecia, a well known German camera brand. They also have flagship-level specifications.
The P10 series is expected to improve on this winning formula with Huawei’s own Kirin 960 processor coupled with 6GB of RAM. Huawei is also expected to collaborate with Leica again on a dual rear camera setup.
It’s unclear when Huawei will bring the P10 and P10 Plus to markets like the United States after they’re launched in April this year. No word as yet on the pricing.
