Starting with the HTC U Ultra, this is the larger phone of the two. It features a 5.7-inch QHD display with Gorilla Glass 5 for the 64GB model and sapphire glass for the 128GB model. Under the hood, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset can be found with 4GB of RAM. In the optics department, the rear-facing camera is a 12MP HTC UltraPixel 2 with a BSI sensor, laser autofocus, phase detection autofocus, and OIS.
The front-facing camera is no slouch either as we are looking at a 16MP UltraPixel camera with Full HD video recording and a bunch of different modes. The phone is also quite a media powerhouse with HTC USonic and BoomSound audio technology.
For its operating system, naturally both phones will run on Android. However the U Ultra will run on Android 7.0 Nougat but HTC did not say what the U Play will run on. Presumably it will at the very least be powered by Marshmallow. Pricing was not mentioned but pre-orders for the HTC U Ultra will begin today via HTC’s website.
