HTC U Ultra Special Edition Arrives Next Month For Almost $1,000

HTC unveiled new smartphones at its event earlier this month. It’s shaking things up with these new devices in a bid to regain relevance in the global smartphone market. The company has been putting out good devices every year but so far they have failed to make a big impact on customers who prefer iPhones and Samsung devices. The HTC U Ultra is the company’s new flagship device and it did say that a “special edition” of this handset will arrive soon.

We now know that the HTC U Ultra special edition is going to arrive next month with a price tag of almost $1,000. It’s going to have the same Snapdragon 821 processor as the normal U Ultra but does feature 128GB of storage and sapphire glass instead of Gorilla Glass 5 that you get with the conventional model.

HTC confirmed the details of the special edition U Ultra on its online store in Taiwan. The standard version of the U Ultra is priced at $23,900 TWD with 64GB of storage, that’s about $760, while the company is asking for $28,900 TWD for the 128GB special edition that touts sapphire glass. If you were to import one, buying a unit would cost you around $920.

HTC is going to release the U Ultra special edition in Taiwan next month. The company is yet to confirm when it will be released in other markets. HTC’s press release for the U Ultra did mention the special edition so it can reasonably be assumed that it might be released in the United States at some point in the future.
