Samsung launched a beta program for owners of the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge late last year which allowed a select few to test beta builds of the Android 7.0 Nougat firmware update. After releasing five beta builds of the new software Samsung decided to end the program. It said that the public release will take place in January. According to a new report, the Galaxy S7 Nougat release date just might be January 17th.
Nougat is the latest iteration of Android that Google released last year. It’s already available on the company’s Pixel and Nexus devices as well as on some devices by a couple of manufacturers. Nougat is still a rarity among Android devices.
According to a report, Samsung Turkey has revealed that the company is going to start rolling out the Galaxy S7 Nougat update from January 17th. Samsung has previously confirmed that the public release will commence from Android 7.1.1.
If January 17th is indeed the release date for this update, then we might see it getting rolled out in many markets alongside Turkey. Users in the United States may have to wait for a bit longer particularly if they have carrier-locked devices.
Samsung is yet to confirm anything about the Galaxy S7 Nougat release date officially but it shouldn’t be too long now before it says something.
