It has been known for several weeks now that Samsung is working on the Android 7.0 Nougat update for the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge. The company even launched its Galaxy Beta Program to enable select members to take the beta firmware for a spin. There’s one more handset in the Galaxy S7 lineup and that’s the Galaxy S7 Active. It appears that development on the Galaxy S7 Active Nougat update has also begun.

A Samsung Galaxy S7 Active running Android 7.0 Nougat has been spotted on the benchmarking website GFXBench. This hints at the possibility of Samsung working on the Nougat update for this particular variant of the Galaxy S7.

It’s actually quite easy to fool an online benchmarking tool by modifying the handset’s model number. However, given that Samsung itself released five beta Nougat builds for the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge, it doesn’t seem outrageous to assume that it might be working on a similar update for the Galaxy S7 Active as well.

Samsung is yet to confirm when it’s finally going to release Nougat for its 2016 flagship. The company recently confirmed the end of its Galaxy Beta Program and it also revealed that it would try its best to release Nougat for the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge to the public in January.
