Foxconn To Build Facility To Build Apple Prototypes

Apple used to have a reputation of being one of the more secretive tech companies around. For the most part they still are, although in recent years their announcements no longer come as a surprise a specs, details, and sometimes even photos of products are leaked ahead of their official announcement.

However those leaks might not come quite as easy in the future. According to a report from Nikkei, they have heard from their sources that Apple manufacturing partner Foxconn will reportedly open a new facility in China. This new facility is said to help with Apple’s building of prototypes, and it seems that it is also located near Apple’s upcoming R&D center in Shenzhen, China.

What this means is that with the proximity between Apple and Foxconn, there might be less hands involved with the handling of Apple’s products, which in theory should help reduce the chances of leaks in the future. Of course whether or not this happens remains to be seen, but we guess if it helps, why not?

When asked to confirm the report, Apple pointed Nikkei towards Foxconn who unsurprisingly declined to comment. Interestingly enough Apple’s R&D center was meant to help them work closer with their partners in China, although a recent report quoted US President Donald Trump as saying that apparently Apple’s CEO Tim Cook had “eyes open” to move iPhone production to the US.
